Wheel fitment looks like a wall of numbers — 20x10, -24 offset, 8x170 — but each one is a real measurement that decides how your pickup truck sits, steers, and clears the fenders. Here's how to read them.
Diameter and Width
A wheel listed as 20x10 is 20 inches in diameter and 10 inches wide, measured inside the bead seat where the tire actually mounts. Bigger diameter lets you run shorter sidewalls for sharper handling; wider wheels let you run wider tires for more contact patch and a more aggressive stance. Our forged wheels run 20" to 30" in diameter and up to 16J wide.
Offset: The Number That Sets Your Stance
Offset is the distance from the wheel's centerline to its mounting face, measured in millimeters. Zero offset means the mounting face sits dead center. Positive offset tucks the wheel inward; negative offset pushes it outward — a -24 offset shoves the wheel out 24mm past center, which is how lifted pickups get that wide, planted look.
More negative offset means more poke, but also more scrub and more stress on bearings. It's a trade-off, not a style dial.
Bolt Pattern (PCD)
The bolt pattern tells you how many lugs and how far apart they sit. 8x170 means eight lugs on a 170mm circle — the heavy-duty Ford pattern. Common one-ton patterns include 8x170 (Ford) and 8x200 / 8x180 (Ram and GM). Get this wrong and the wheel simply won't bolt on, so it's the first thing to verify against your axle.
Backspacing vs Offset
Backspacing measures from the mounting face to the inner rim edge — how far the wheel reaches inward. It's another way of expressing the same fit, and it's what actually determines brake and suspension clearance. When in doubt, give your builder the backspacing and let them sort the offset.
